It takes a great deal of time to construct a MetaStock chart
or several charts precisely containing the data you want
displayed and how you want it displayed. One way to
recall your exact data display in the future with minimal
effort is a MetaStock Layout. |
In MetaStock, click on the
(open) icon. At the
bottom of the "Open" dialog window that appears, make
sure that "Smart Charts" is displayed in the "Files
of type:" section. |
If you used the default settings for your installation, browse
to the "C:\MasterDATA\CSVPlug-in\Data\PxData"
directory. |
Select and open the symbol ".SPX". |
Using the "Apply
a Template To an Open Chart" method of applying a
template discussed on the previous page, apply the following
three templates (please make sure
"Replace existing chart" is unchecked):
- ADLine.mwt
- McClellanOsc-Sum.mwt
- NewHighLow.mwt
You now should have four charts open.
The original chart plus the three new charts displaying the
above templates. Close the original chart. You now
should have three charts open. |
Click on "File", then "New",
and then "Layout". |
In the "Layout" dialog window that
appears, click on the "Add All" button. Click on
the "OK" button. |
While you have created a Layout, it is only
in memory. Save the new Layout by clicking on "File",
then "Save As". In the "Save As" dialog
window browse to the directory you wish to save your Layouts.
We suggest saving your own Layouts in a separate directory.
For Layouts created using the MetaStockCSV Plug-in formulas you may wish to save them
somewhere in
the "C:\MasterDATA directory. |
Whenever you wish to use the three charts
you just created, you can recreate them or simply open this
new Layout. |
Click on "Tools" and then "Options".
In the "Application Properties" dialog window that
appears, click on the "Chart Options" tab.
In the "Change Security" section, if you select "Use
chart as template" and check "Change all charts in a
layout" you can cycle through MasterDATA's compiled
indexes and ETFs. All three charts will reflect the newly
cycled symbol. |
Additionally, when you create layouts that
you will use frequently, consider adding a custom "Toolbar
button" for those layouts. Follow the same steps as
previously described on the "Apply
a
Template To a Chart" page under
the "Create
a Custom Toolbar Button To Apply a Template" section. |
